The Animals are clothed in feathers and fur for the major reason of protecting their skin from direct sunlight. Plants are also shielded from the the violence of stray hazards by a bark. There is a generally accepted reason why covering the body is pertinent.
For humans, clothing is beyond covering the skin. Clothing could be an identity and adornment based on the culture, belief and religion of individuals. For Muslims, the clothing is worn to protect the nakedness from people who doesn’t deserve a glance.
Some centuries back, when monarchy was the major system of Government. The Queens used to dress elegantly in a hefty attire that covers all their body. Infact, when A Queen walked in the community, a standing ovation was observed while all faces were down. No one dared to look the Queen in the face not to talk of her body.
To the Muslims, the hijab is not just a mere clothing but a religious obligation. “And do not make a display of yourselves like the displaying of the ignorance of long ago”, as recorded in the glorious Quran, chapter 33v33.
The hijab to Muslims is a major part of their existence. It is an identity. It is a pride. Hijab is the crown of a Muslim female.
Today in the history of mankind, it is an undoubtable fact that the regions of the world where atrocities are mostly committed are regions where the females don’t use the hijab.
The hijab preserves the morality of a society. When a society is devoid of females who wear the hijab, the society is bound to undergo moral torture and psychological corruption. Allah has created the body of the male gender to be sexually aroused when he sees the nakedness of a female. When nakedness are flaunted all over the society, fornication becomes rampant which leads to unwanted pregnancy, sickness and death.
South Africa today has the highest population of HIV affected individuals and Saudi Arabia has one or no patient suffering from such diseases.
A Muslim sister who wears the hijab is not always alone but with angels guiding and guarding her. Chapter 13 verse 11 of the Quran says “For each (person), there are angels in succession, before and behind him/her. They guard him/her by the Command of Allah.”
That’s the reason no sane man will commit atrocities with her. She is fully protected. She has protected both herself and the society from the temptation of furnication. The angels guarding her are ready to deal with any individual who has ulterior motives towards her.
Wearing the hijab is never an oppression nor a result of brainwash. If it was an oppression, Mary the mother of Jesus(Peace be upon him) would not have been presented in pictures with her full hijab covering the whole of her body. The Christian catholic nuns wouldn’t cover the whole of their body if it was an oppression. Infact the Bible recorded in 1st Corinthians 11:5-6 “But every wife who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head, since it is the same as if her head were shaven. For if a wife will not cover her head, then she should cut her hair short. But since it is disgraceful for a wife to cut off her hair or shave her head, let her cover her head.” This shows that covering the head and other parts of the body is compulsory.
We can now observe that the hijab is compulsory in both religions but due to religious sentiments, personal hatred and politics, the use of hijab has been subjected to ridiculous debates. Only a politically enslaved individual will view a Muslim wearing the hijab as oppressed and the Catholic nun wearing the holy garment covering all her body has righteous.
Hijab should be allowed in schools, hospitals, public offices, etc. The use of hijab should be encouraged in the society. Without the use of hijab in the society, we will continue to remain in a state of moral degradation. The youths will continue to wallow in fornication and endanger the upcoming generation. Verily! Allah will not change the good condition of a people as long as they do not change their state of goodness themselves (by committing sins and by being ungrateful and disobedient to Allah). Q13:11
