Dpatg To Jannah Media Hub reports that the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) and Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has declared Saturday as the first day of the Muslim New Year 1444 A.H.
This is contained in a statement, on Sunday in Abuja, signed by NSCIA Director of Administration, Arc. Zubairu Haruna Usman-Ugwu.
He said: ‘Muharram crescent was not sighted in Nigeria, His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, has declared Saturday 30th July as the first day of Muharram 1444.
The Sultanate council will release an official statement inshaAllah.’
