The ancient city of Yorubaland, Ile Ife, was agog as the Artisans, Peasants & Traders Association Of Nigeria (APTAN) Ile-Ife Chapter held her 2022 second edition of APTAN Week Lecture and Award Presentation on Saturday, 29th October, 2022.
The event which was held at Ile-Ife Central Mosque, Enuwa, started at exactly 10:00am with the theme ‘Retirement Planning For Artisans; The Means and Strategies’
Our correspondent reports that the event shows spiritually filled, thought provoking and highly educative lectures that span through different fields of economic knowledge for artisans.
Aside spiritual and economic uplifting lectures, the event also feature presentation of awards to prominent individuals. They are: Aare Musulumi of Ife Land, Alhaji Ibikunle Lawal, Iyaloja of Ife Land, Alhaja Lawal Fadilat, Director, Misty Gee College, Ile Ife, Alhaji Muhammad Isiag Gbenga, Director, Al’Maruf Ventures, Ile Ife, Alhaji Al’Maruf Kolawole and Former National President of Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) and Member Board of Trustees, Alhaji Isiaq Kolapo Akingbola.
The event also enhance networking opportunity by allowing artisans to get to meet their peers and front liners in their business fields and other things that interests them.
The event was graced by a lot of prominent individuals, such as Chief Imam of Ife Land, Sheikh (Alhaji) Abdus-Semi Abdul Hamid; National Business Officer of The Muslim Congress (TMC), Alhaji Adisa Adam, Naibul Imam of Ife Land, Alhaji Busroh Balogun; Director of Mobil Filling Stations, Ile Ife, Alhaji Lasisi Ademola Rasheed, Proprietor of Crescent Model School, Alhaji Mikhail Ibraheem Awodapo, Grand Mufti of APTAN in Nigeria, Sheikh Qomorudeen Ballo.
Others are Vice Deen, Faculty of Technology, Ass. Prof Shuaib Osunleke, Chairman Ife Muslim Community, Alhaji Dhikrullahi Balogun, Chief Imam of Igboye Central Mosque, Sheikh Abubakr Ballo, Chief Imam of Adegboye Mosque, Sabo, Ile Ife, Alhaji Abdulrahmon Adefioye and many others.
During his lecture, Alhaji Adisa Adam encouraged APTAN members to partake in other in other businesses and works different from their field of work, like farming in case of old age and retirement.
He also advised them to invest in their children and to also learn modern ways of doing things for improvement.
Speaking also, the chief Imam of Ife appreciated the association for their good conduct and give kudos to them for propagating the religion of Allah and preaching it among the traders.
While speaking with our correspondent, the Coordinator of APTAN Ife Zone, Mr. Adegoke Saheed disclosed that APTAN is an association that sees to all the affairs of traders, artisans and peasants.
He said, “APTAN lecture week/Anniversary started last year with series of program. This year, it also began with a media briefing on Sunday, 23rd of October. On the 24th of October, we invited doctors for special health talk after which we had a special jamu’at prayer the second day with the chief Imam mam of Ife Land and other notable imams in attendance. Today is the grand finale with lecture and award presentation.”
While pledging his support for APTAN, the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate for Ife Federal Constituency in 2023 general elections, Engineer Benjamen Kayode urged the members of the association to continue to maintain steadfastness in promoting the goals of the association.
