It’s the arrival of the blessed month, I had wondered a few weeks ago if I could even fast all through the month because I’m a foodie..lol😂I would miss my coffee breaks and snacks. Nana- like we all call her in the family is my mother, she woke me up for sahoor and I was really grumpy but later had to stand up after she splashed water on my face. We all had our sahoor and I went back to sleep, I’m not an early riser by the way. At about 5:30am- it was time for fajr, I struggled to actually get up myself because I don’t want another splash from Nana. I love my sleep so much so I slept again before it was time to prepare for my classes that day.
The struggle begins, it’s a long day today as I will be having a 9am -6pm class sessions..phewww I wondered how I will survive the day. My friends in uni would not be fasting, they are non-Muslims so there’s no encouragement at all. The class session began as early as 9:00am, just struggling to understand what the lecturer was saying as my stomach kept rumbling.Do I have to keep fasting? No one would know if I decide not to tell them , I kept wondering 🤔 .I observed my zuhr and asr together in the mosque and I met with my female Muslim lecturer, Dr. Fatimah but she’s very disciplined so most times I just want to avoid her. I wonder what she’s about to say.
Salam alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu aliyah…she said and I replied Wa alaykum Salam warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu.
Are you fasting today? I know how much of a food lover you are ….[aliyah raised her eyebrows] Yes I am fasting ma, I was wondering why she’s on my matter.
She then goes, I have a challenge for you… if you are able to fast all through the month of Ramadan, I owe you a voucher to your favourite shopping store…wow that was a huge reward, I was willing to do everything to get the voucher. I thanked her and walked back to my class still thinking about breaking or continuing the fast. I was really tired by the end of my classes that day, I packed my bag to go home and met up with my friend at the corridor, she was having our favourite noodles ….quite tempting right arrghhh!!!! I watched her as she was slurping each strand of the noodles.
She asked if I wanted to have some, I mean no one would know if she doesn’t tell, hmmmm.I told my friend about Dr.Fatimah’s challenge and she said well she’s not here… she wouldn’t find out if you don’t tell her. So I collected her fork and……………..
Did she ate the noodles? What about Dr. Fatimah challenge? Could Dr. Fatimah pass by the corridor and spot her at that moment? Was she even fasting for the sake of Allah or for the reward?
Find out in the next episode…🥰🥰
