Many will say it’s just a choice,
But that shows that their understanding has gone void,
For it is a matter of creed,
A commandment from Thee.
As Muslimahs we abide by His decree,
For we have been guaranteed,
An abode that no eyes have ever seen,
If only we agreed to wear it right.
Many will object that the hijab is more than just a head cover,
But if you open the Qur’aan you will discover,
That the hijab was revealed to be drawn over,
Not only the head, but the entire body.
It’s sad to see,
How we’re now negligent with it,
For our hijab has been cut short,
Allowing parts that are to be concealed,
A cheap thing to be seen,
If only we truly know it’s worth.
Being fully covered is virtuous,
It is righteous,
A step towards being pious,
Protected from the evil looks of lustful men,
And above all,
Being pleased in eyes of Allah.
