There was glamour and glitz at the aqdun and Waleematun Nikaah (wedding solemnization and ceremony) of Dr Mutmainah O. Sanni and AbdulBasit M. Sanusi which took place yesterday 13th July 2024 at the iconic Queens Park Event Center, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The couple who were alumni of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile lfe were surrounded by family and friends as they tied the knot according to Islamic traditions. People from all walks of life graced the event including Oba (Prof.) Saka Matemilola, the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Alhaji Niyi Yusuf, Chairman of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, Prof. Y.K Yusuf of the English Language department in OAU, Alhaji Aliu Kabiru, CEO Matrix Energy, Alh Muritala Adeniji of Starlink Global among others.

D2J garnered that the groom’s father, Professor Abubakar A. Sanusi who is a professor of internal medicine doubles as the Chief Imam of the Obafemi Awolowo University Central Mosque of Unity while the bride’s father, Engnr. Abdul Hakeem Sanni is an accomplished engineer.

The groom who is the last son of Imam Sanusi recently got his MSc in Robotics at the University College, London. He earlier bagged a BSc in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at OAU back in 2019.
Dr Mutmainah has been a symbol of knowledge. She got into OAU in 2011 with a record-breaking post-UTME score of 358/400 leading 41, 391 applicants who sat for the exam that year. She continued her brilliant streak and eventually obtained her MBBS degree with distinction in 2018 from OAU winning several awards with the highest number of prizes. D2J garnered that she recently received her MSc in Clinical Embryology at the University of Oxford after winning a prestigious scholarship from the MasterCard Foundation.
The event which was anchored by the HR guru, Mr Mustapha Kelani had several professors from Obafemi Awolowo University Ile Ife in attendance, top executives from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and many well wishers.
