Hundreds of Palestinians have lost their lives in Israeli air raids since the Gaza truce concluded, prompting the Israeli army to instruct evacuations in and around Khan Younis, the enclave’s second-largest city.
The Director General of the Government Media Office in Gaza revealed that over 700 Palestinians have been killed since Israel resumed bombardment following the end of a seven-day truce on Friday.
Since Israel initiated a military offensive on October 7 in response to a deadly Hamas attack, more than 1.5 million people, primarily from northern Gaza, have been displaced. Overnight and into Sunday, reports indicated intense bombing in Khan Younis, Rafah, and various northern areas targeted by Israel’s air and ground assaults.
James Elder, UNICEF’s global spokesperson, painted a grim picture, stating, “Everywhere you turn to, there are children with third-degree burns, shrapnel wounds, brain injuries, and broken bones.” He added,
“Mothers crying over children who look like they are hours away from death. It seems like a death zone right now.”
