Over eighty children and cancer patients have been evacuated from Gaza and flown to the United Arab Emirates for medical treatment.
Dpathtojannah learnt that a team of medical professionals on board were more than 40 doctors and nurses from Burjeel Hospital, NMC Royal Hospital, and Sheikh Khalifa Medical City.
The Etihad Airways’ Boeing-777 also transported 20 children who were injured due to Israeli bombardment.
Ahmed Marwan Al Siyam, son of one of the cancer patients, shared his experience:
“The journey for my mother has been difficult. We were afraid of losing her after her cancer treatment was halted a few weeks ago because of the war.”
Ibtisam Al Siyam, Mr. Al Siyam’s mother, was part of the third group of cancer patients and children evacuated from the besieged Gaza Strip as the conflict with Israel continues.
The Palestinians were able to cross the Rafah border with Egypt on the last day of a four-day truce, which was the first halt in fighting in seven weeks.
The temporary truce allowed the evacuation of more than 80 children and cancer patients, providing them with a chance for treatment in the UAE
