AISHA was fed up of the vicious treatment she always receive from Mrs Bright everyday. She thought of running away to an unknown destination but she said to herself, ‘If I should run away, where am I going to, who do I want to go and meet.”
She stood up from where she sat and began to pace up and down of her room. A thought came to her mind that she should go and remind Mr Bright about her education because he promised to sponsor her education. She went downstairs and met Mr and Mrs Bright watching movies, she asked for permission that she wants to have a discussion with them.
“Are you okay, will you get out of my sight before I strangle you to death,” Mrs Bright scolded
“Sweetheart, let firstly hear her out,” Mr Bright who knew his wife could be furious tried to pacify her
“Firstly, I thank you for your care and support you showed to me at difficult time . I really appreciate what you’ve done. Please ma and sir I just want to remind you about my education. I’ve wanted to say this for a long time but I tried to wait. May the Lord enrich your pocket,” she said nervously
“If not for my husband who tried to calm me down, I could have beaten you up there, so a mere slave like you want to enjoy the privilege a precious child enjoy. No! It can’t be. Over my dead body will you go to school,” Mrs Bright said and hissed.
“Mummy Desmond, what’s your problem? Are you the one that wants to sponsor her education? Now listen and listen well, I will sponsor AISHA from her secondary fo university. If she is your biological daughter won’t you cater for her?,” Mr. Bright said.
“Never will she be my biological daughter,” Mrs Bright replied angrily and went away.
