The Sultan of Sokoto and President of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, has declared Monday June 19 as Dhul Hijjah 1, 1444AH.
This means that Wednesday, June 28 is the Eidul Adha or Sallah day, coming after Tuesday, 27 June which is Arafat Day.
A statement from the National Moon Sighting Committee (NMSC), said that Sultan Abubakar has declared Monday 19th June as the first day of Dhul Hijjah.
“The Sultanate Council Sokoto has declared Monday 19/June/2023 as the first day of Zul-Hijjah 1444 AH.
Accordingly Wednesday 28/June/2023 will be the day of Eidul Adha 1444 AH. His Eminence The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa‘ad Abubakar, CFR, mni, wishes the entire Muslim Ummah happy Eidul Adha Mubarak in advance.”
His Eminence, the Sultan hereby calls upon the Muslim Ummah to intensify efforts in acts of worship during the first 10 days of the blessed month of Dhul Hijjah. And also pray for peace, stability, and progress of the country, the statement said.
