A renowned Islamic Institute in Nigeria, Markazud Daa’wah Wathaqoofatil Islamiyyah based in Ile Ife, Osun State had recently organized a mental awareness program on Friday (9th October, 2020) and Saturday (10th October, 2020) on Zoon account to mark the World Mental Health Day (WMHD) which is always celebrated globally on every October 10th.
The WMHD, according to the World Health Organisation, is marked with the overall objective of raising awareness on mental health issues around the world and mobilising efforts in support of mental health.
The day provides an opportunity for all stakeholders working on mental issues to talk about their work and what needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people worldwide.
In line with the WHO objectives, here are facts you should know about the Mental Awareness Program that was organized by the Markazud Daa’wah:
1. The program was aimed at eradicating depression among Nigerian students
2. The program was held on Zoom and started on Friday (9th October, 2020) at exactly 5pm by a lecture given by a renowned Islamic scholar, Ustadh Muyideen Olusola on the topic: “Islamic Perspective, Causes & Control Of Depression Among Students”
3. The last edition of the program was held on Saturday (10th October, 2020) on Zoom with a lecture delivered by a renowned psychologist, Dr Abdul Waasi Badrudeen who gave a lecture on the topic: “Depression Among Students, Psychological Solution”
4. Dpath To Jannah correspondent who covered the program observed that the first program which occurred on Friday was aimed at exposing Nigerian students to know the Islamic perspective and remedies about depression while the second program organized on Saturday was aimed at exposing Nigerian students to know the academic aspect of depression and the psychological solutions to it.
5. Nigerian students who participated in the program acknowledged the efforts of both the lecturers and Markazud Daa’wah.
