No fewer than 300 Muslims thronged Garage Oke Iremo area in Ile Ife to attend The Muslim Congress (TMC) public lecture which was held on Sunday, 1st March, 2020.
The quarterly lecture is one of the public medium used by the congress to address sociopolitical cum spiritual matters.
The Congress, over the years, has brought contemporary issues under the public spotlight through its lectures in many communities across the state.
The guest speaker of the day, Ustadh Ibrahim Ayub Opeloyeru, who is the Chief Imam TMC Central Mosque Iwo spoke on the “Prohibition of fraud and deception in transaction.”
He called on traders to shun the use of unjust measurement, purposely meant to cheat and defraud customers.
The cleric called on Muslim traders to be honest while dealing with their customers, especially as it concerns using the right and appropriate containers for measurement.
He also advised that Muslim traders should not at any time, for any reason, engage in the selling of fake or substandard products, or reduce the quantity of items they sell.
“Allah says in the Holy Qu’ran, Sura 83: 1-6 : “Woe to those people, who reduce measurement.
“Allah detests them and will not fail to punish those that engage in it at the appropriate time,’’ he said.
